His grandfather wrote a note that it was good enough for him when he was

growing up, so it will be good for Chase. Chase does not want the old

radio, and offers to sell it to Zoey for $10. She offers $5 and a taco
coupon, and he sells.

In the girls' dorm room, Quinn is straightening a large picture of Mark.
Quinn asks Lola how it looks, and Lola goes over and takes it down, hanging
another picture! Quinn thinks that was rude - but Lola explains she doesn't
want to get dressed with a picture of Mark staring at her. Quinn comes over
and talks about a boy that asked Lola out. But Lola explains he kisses like a
sheep dog, and asks Quinn how Mark kisses. Quinn dodges the question - and
finally admits that they have never kissed! Lola points out they have dated
for two years, and Quinn asks her not to tell anybody. But Zoey walks in with
the radio, and Lola blurts it out. Quinn says that it's Mark and doesn't want
to talk about it.

Lola asks Zoey about the radio - how old it is. Quinn offers to check it on

line. To the girls' astonishment, the radio is a collectors' item worth

between $10,000 and $12,000! Quinn asks Zoey what she will do with the money,

but Zoey says she is giving the radio back to Chase. An ethical discussion

ensues - with Lola agreeing with Zoey, and Quinn thinking a deal is a deal.

In the hallway - Quinn meets Mark, who is going to do laundry. She brought
Mark some ice cream - and puckers up for a thank you kiss! But Mark doesn't
want to kiss her, it is not the right moment. He leaves to do the laundry.

Michael and Logan are in the lounge, Michael is going to do a magic trick. He
will make a ball disappear from under a cup without touching the cup. After
some embarrassing incantations, Michael says it is done. Logan removes the
cup, and Michael snatches the ball - he really DID make it disappear without
touching the cup. They start arguing, and Lola interrupts. She is looking
for Chase to get his history notes. The conversation turns to the radio - and
Lola tells them what the radio was worth. Lola leaves, then Chase comes in,
and Michael and Logan tell him. They tell him that Zoey knows - but of course
they don't know that Zoey is going to return it. Chase leaves, mad.

In the girls' dorm room, Zoey, Stacey, and another girl are doing exercise to
a tape. Chase comes in and shuts off the tape. He chases the other two
girls out and tells Zoey he wants his radio back. Zoey knows he heard. Chase
is so mad, he is confrontational, and Zoey starts to get mad when Chase says he
is disappointed in her. He is mad because she hasn't told him, but Zoey says
she was - she had looked for him and couldn't find him. The fight
escalates rapidly, with Chase accusing Zoey of not being a good friend because
she won't give it back. Zoey decides to keep the radio, and Chase leaves, very
angry.

Quinn and Michael are discussing the radio at lunch. Michael thinks she
should give it back, Quinn doesn't. Logan joins them and agrees with Quinn.
Lola joins them. Neither Zoey nor Chase wanted to risk seeing the other, so
they won't be there. Stacy joins them, too - not knowing about the fight that
will soon ensue! All Stacey wants is mustard. Logan and Quinn start arguing with
Lola and Michael - ignoring Stacey's repeated requests for mustard. Finally -
Michael gives the mustard to Stacey and they all get up and leave Stacey by
herself.

That evening, there is violin music by the fountain --- Mark and Quinn arrive.
Quinn tells Mark the violin is the most romantic of instruments. It is
awkward - as Mark tells Quinn she has eye crust. He leaves to put on an
ointment. It turns out Quinn hired the violinist. She pays him.

Later, and elsewhere on campus - Chase is dressed as a cat burglar. He is
crawling through bushes, when his phone rings! It is his grandfather, who
wants to know if he got the radio. Chase lets it slip that he doesn't have
it, but is trying to get it back, because it is worth $10,000. A janitor
pushes a cart by, and Chase ends the call. He is outside the girls' dorm
room, and sneaks into the window. Sneaking across the room, he is about to
grab the radio - but Zoey is awake and has a pie! As Chase makes it sound
like he was after a contact, she smashes it in his face. His screams awaken
Quinn and Lola. Lola takes Zoey's side, and they start arguing with Zoey and
Quinn. Lola stops the fight, and tells them they have to settle the issue.
Quinn suggests a mediator - someone with no emotion or passion.

Quinn knows a person - Mark - and the next scene, Chase is stating his case to
Mark in a "trial." Mark decides in favor of Zoey. They still argue - but
Chase accepts the decision and leaves. Zoey is not happy, though.

Quinn catches up to Mark and thanks him for mediating! Mark kisses her.
Quinn asks why this was the right moment. Mark asks if she was expecting it -
and, of course, she wasn't, and that was the reason why it was the right moment!
He asks her if he is a good kisser, but Quinn deflects the question until
later.

Chase is studying outdoors - looking unhappy. Zoey joins him - she is not
happy either. She hands him a bag - it is a taco. This one has meat in it!
She pulls the radio out of her backpack and gives it to him. Chase is
confused - he still absolutely respects Mark's decision. But Zoey explains
she was always going to give it back - he just got mad, then she got mad. He
admits he was an idiot. He shares the taco, and suggests they share the
proceeds when they sell the radio! They start talking about what they will
buy --- when Chase's grandfather shows up. He has flown across the country,
but it isn't to see Chase. He runs to the table, confirms that the radio is
worth $10,000, then grabs it and runs off with it!

Left with themselves - Chase and Zoey continue sharing the taco.

Closing line - none

ANALYSIS:

Continuity: We do not know if this is the same grandfather that was married
to Chase's grandmother that passed away. He was, however, shown living alone.

The radio shown in the episode is a Fada model 115 Bullet radio,

manufactured in 1941, from Dan Schneider's private collection. The episode
states that it is worth $10,000, but designer pieces of the quality shown can
be had for $2400. And Fada Bullet radios generally go for around $400 on
eBay. They are of the "all American five" tube design, and offer excellent
performance. However, few collectors play their radios, as the heat from the
tube will soon darken the bakelite plastic case, greatly reducing the value as
a collectors' item.

Continuity - the picture of Mark that Quinn was hanging was first shown in
"Quarantine," which happened to be the last new episode aired before this one.

Quinn uses a search engine called "Zaplook" - which looks a lot like Google.

The voice in the background of the girls' exercise tape is Dan Schneider.

Ah - the kiss! The comic romance between Mark and Quinn was introduced in
season 1's episode "Quinn's Date." It was presented as humorous - the odd
couple of individualists who found each other. There was a sense that Quinn
could do better, Mark had no emotion or passion at all. But, over the course
of the series, his nobility has been developed. I would say that the first
portion of this episode, where he wouldn't kiss her at all, was reinforcing the
negative impressions we all had of Mark, erasing his noble advances as a
character. But - this was a mind game that the master storyteller - Dan - was
playing on all of us. When Mark explains to Quinn why he waited, he not only
is restored to nobility, but establishes himself as a passionate - if private
- boyfriend for Quinn. We are left no longer thinking that Quinn could do
better. We now know - she could never do better. Mark IS the perfect
boyfriend, at least for her, and will always treat her well.

Erin's mother related to Erin's fan club how she had to take off work, and rush
through traffic to be there for Erin's first on-screen kiss. Thankfully, she
made it there for the last take. Everybody involved was glad Erin's
first on-screen kiss was with Jack, because the two are good friends in real
life.

The kissing scene was followed by some very curious dialog. Mark asks Quinn
if he was a good kisser - but she hedges on answering, saying they will talk
about it later. Yet another stellar performance by Erin, interjecting deep
mystery into her character! We are left with a number of questions -
obviously, Quinn has kissed someone before, and Mark may not live up to that
kiss! But who? A PCA student? And if so - which one! MAJOR story arcs can
be ended and new ones established if it is Chase or Logan - even Michael would
have implications for Lisa. This definitely is getting interesting!
