The plane flies off, but
they can't steer it. Quinn tells them that
she disconnected the navigation system to get more power, as she packs
her tools back into her
shoe.
Dean Rivers is talking with Beverly, and gets a call on his cell
phone. The boys are desperately trying to control the plane - as it
speeds closer and closer to Dean Rivers. The plane strikes him in the
face, as Beverly screams!
The PCA kids are in the lounge watching Jeremiah doing a newscast
about the incident. Dean Rivers had to go to the hospital to have his
nose reconstructed. While
he is gone, PCA will have a temporary Dean -
Dean Taylor. He introduces Dean Taylor, and the girls go wild - they
think he is gorgeous. Jeremiah cuts to a report about the new cheerleader
uniforms, and the boys push the girls out of the way to watch!
Later, the girls are walking outside on campus and hear screaming.
Everybody hears it. It is Coco - she is down on the ground! Zoey knows
what the problem is - Carl broke up with her again. They get her up, and
pick up her phone.
Coco is in the girls' room talking with them about Carl - he dumped
her over the phone. The girls have heard it before - it happens every
three weeks. The girls want to start their homework, but Coco wants to
talk.
Hours later - in the lounge, the girls are trying to do homework,
Coco is still talking.
Still later - it is dark - Coco is still talking as the girls walk
home.
Finally at 11:47, the girls go to bed. But - at 3:18 AM - Coco is
back in their room, still talking about Carl - as the girls try to sleep!
The next day - the boys are talking about why it is called a pair of
pants - instead of pair of pant. The girls join them and tell the boys
about how they are trying
to get away from Coco.
The other girls tell them that Dean Taylor is coming - and a crowd
gathers as he gets coffee. He is embarrassed by it.
Lola and Quinn come up with a way to spend time with him - get into
trouble! They start a food fight!
In the Dean's office - the girls are being questioned. They ask him
if he has a girlfriend, how tall he is, what hair products he uses, does
he have a younger
brother, and Quinn asks if she can swab some of his DNA!
Back in the lounge, Zoey and the boys are listening to Coco - wishing
they were anywhere else. Coco's mother called - and Coco talks about
growing old and dying alone. Quinn and Lola come in and tell them that they
found out he is single. Chase jokes about setting him up with Coco - but it
is no joke to the girls, who remind the boys that the alternative is to
listen to Coco go on and on about Carl! The boys start thinking it's a
better plan!
The boys find Dean Taylor outside and join him at lunch. They clumsily
bring up the subject of
Coco.
The girls bring Coco to the table to meet Dean Taylor. They get him
to reluctantly agree to a date. Coco almost goofs it up and the kids
rush her off.
Chase is at Sushi Rox, setting up the food for the date. He has also
arranged a cello player - and Michael will play the flute! Logan gives
him a hard time!
Coco is on the phone with Carl on her way to the date - and
inadvertently tells Carl where she will be.
At Sushi Rox, the girls will be waitresses for the date. The music is
playing, and Dean Taylor and Coco start talking. Coco begins by
talking about being dumped. The more Coco talks, the worse it gets! She
doesn't know what to say!
Zoey tells the others, Chase tells the musicians to get loud and
drown out Coco!
Dean Taylor tries to talk, and the musicians get loud. It doesn't
work - Coco just gets louder. She throws sushi at Michael - it gets on
his flute. Dean Taylor tries to change the conversation, and it makes
Coco nervous. When
she gets nervous, she sweats - a LOT!
The kids get a fan, but Coco's makeup is running, and she is soaked
in sweat.
The boys run to get towels, and the girls tell her to change. But
Coco can't run across campus to change, she has foot spurs! They decide
she should swap outfits with Lola - BAD idea! They have different body
types ---
Dean Taylor is bored - wishing he was somewhere else. Coco returns
in Lola's outfit. As she sits, Lola's outfit rips. Carl - her boyfriend
enters - and they start arguing. He wants her back - and, when Dean Taylor
intervenes, Carl knocks him on the floor. Coco agrees to take Carl back
- if he will carry her
back to her room.
The girls are tending to Dean Taylor in the lounge. They tell him to
relax and take a picture.
Carl is lugging Coco, it is another quarter mile!
Closing line - Coco: "I have foot spurs."
ANALYSIS:
For model airplane enthusiasts - yes, Quinn's method of bypassing
resistors would work, but I don't recommend it. The batteries will
drain much faster, and may overheat or explode. In addition, the motor
may burn itself out or overheat. At the very least, you will burn the
contacts.
It was necessary to get Dean Rivers on the disabled list, because we
know from "Quinn's Alpaca" that he is married. And he has never been a
heartthrob to the girls. So, for Coco to have a romantic interest,
they needed a new Dean.
Coco has always been a comical character - not a very good dorm
advisor! She ignored the girls' camouflage in "Prank Week." She
swallowed fish in "Time Capsule." She got a room number confused with
a bra size in "Surprise." She refused to put down the ravioli that
bees were after in "Chase's Girlfriend." Now - she "doesn't bathe as much
as other girls," etc. in "Hot Dean"! Not that she is totally repulsive
as a character, but for the "Hot Dean" - she was a nightmare date from
the infernal regions. No doubt he would not be asking her out again.
Certain characters are being cast as comical - Mark Del Figgalo and
Coco. Thankfully - Quinn has broken out of that mold, although at
first, it looked like she was heading that way. Good call on the part
of Dan - who needs Erin and Victoria's extreme good looks more than
ever this season. The Quinn of season 3 is downright - hot - compared
to the Quinn of season 1. Quinn's flirtations - with Logan in "Chase's
Girlfriend," and with the Dean in "Hot Dean," are becoming apparent -
Mark really needs to reign her in! Now almost fully integrated into
Zoey's clique, you could make an argument for her being Zoey's (or
Lola's) best friend. And her inventions - in season 1 almost always
going awry - now work the first time (witness the pink robot of "Robot
Wars," with its deadly accuracy).
Good continuity with Kazu and Sushi Rox, a reference to Chase burning
down the restaurant in "People Auction."
One issue I had with continuity was - how did the girls get the new
dean all the way from Sushi Rox back to their lounge so they could
treat him? From the closing scene, we know that the girls' dorm, over
which Coco presides, is at least 1/4 mile from Sushi Rox. And Carl is
having quite a hard time lugging Coco to it. How much more trouble
would three girls have carrying a grown man that distance?
OK - the inevitable question: HOW ON EARTH would Lola's outfit fit on
Coco? Lola is supermodel thin, and Coco is love handle sized. I had
this same question about the pants in the Sisterhood of the Travelling
Pants movie - how could a pair of pants that fits supermodel think
Alexis Bleidel also fit America Fererra? Sounds more like science
fiction to me. Also - I had to get a discussion going on "pants vs.
pant" - because Chase and the boys discussed it.
Coco evidently got through the bee incident with no stings.
