Logan tries to discourage them by saying this year's haunted house will be
majorly scary - not girly scary.

Two French people come up - Andre and Monique. They ask for directions but
none of the kids can understand. Their sponsor soon shows up and introduces
them - Chase says he loves their fries, and Andre eats one of the fries with
"Logan blood" on it. He has a strange expression afterwards – it probably
didn't taste good!

The haunted house is at PCA's Holland Science Center. Logan and Michael are
busy unloading props when Dustin and Jack - his roommate - come up.  Logan
chases them off, not wanting them to see the scary props before night. He
tells them this one won't just make you scream, it will make you cry!

On a pathway, Zoey and Nicole meet Mr. Bender. Zoey is dressed as Marilyn
Monroe, and Nicole as Dorothy. Nicole couldn't decide whether to be Dorothy,
or something scary - so Zoey suggested a fake axe in her back – you can't
trust the tin man! They tell Mr. Bender they like his costume, too - he is
wearing a red plaid shirt and bow tie - and they guess his costume is a "big
nerd." What they don't pick up on is that it wasn't a costume! Mr. Bender
loses the bow tie after they leave.

Back at the Holland Science Center, Logan and Michael are working.  Zoey and
Nicole come to help, and Nicole sees her current crush - Tim. He is in a
mummy costume. She talks to him - but way too much: he is clearly not
interested. Zoey warns her in private she is coming on way too strong. Chase
jumps out at them in a Dracula outfit, but they tease him and say it's a
magician costume. Logan picks up on the fun and kids him, too.

Quinn and Mark come in. Quinn is dressed as Albert Einstein, Mark is also
dressed as a mummy. Quinn sees Tim, and is upset - she orders Tim to change.
Tim - having enough of the girls, leaves to change. Mark apologizes to him.

Michael is outside in an accident victim costume. He is on the phone with
Logan, who has him waiting for a truck. Dustin comes up and screams - scaring
Michael as well. After Dustin recognizes him, Michael plays like his heart
stopped in fright! Michael tells Dustin he better go get into his costume,
because the haunted house starts at dark.

Back inside the haunted house, Quinn glues Mark's face bandage in place with
her special glue - so it won't come loose. The only problem – now Mark can't
talk - excepted muffled unintelligible sounds. Quinn got some glue on her
fingers, and has to leave to get a special solvent.

Zoey and Nicole come out, and Nicole sees Mark, thinking it is Tim.  She
starts to chase him to get a kiss!

Michael is almost asleep on a bench waiting for the truck. Andre and Monique
drive up, and being totally ignorant of Halloween - they think Michael really
IS an accident victim. As they talk in French, Michael is able to recognize
one word: "hopsital" - and trys to tell them he doesn't need to go. He
breaks free and runs - with Andre and Monique in chase!

Nicole catches up with Mark. She goes for that kiss – still thinking that it
is Tim. Mark wants none of it and falls down a hill while trying to get away.
But it is a gentle slope and he is OK.

At night, the kids are waiting to go into "The Tunnel of Doom."  Logan is
really building it up, and an irritated Zoey is standing by him.  Chase comes
out in his Dracula outfit, but everybody still thinks he is a magician. Logan
asks Zoey to take him out so he won't ruin the effect. Dustin is scared --
Zoey is apprehensive about it, but the kids go in. It is really scary with
gory special effects everywhere. An eerie voice echoes "Jack Jack Jack"
(Dustin's roommate). There are flashing strobes, and the kids all run out
screaming.

Zoey is furious at Logan, and makes him turn on all the lights.  But - Jack is
missing! Chase goes back to look in the tunnel - no Jack!

--- break ---

Still at the Haunted House, Dustin goes into the tunnel to look for Jack. All
he finds is a scorched and burned police hat - Jack's costume hat.  Zoey and
Chase start really confronting Logan - what has he done?! Logan swears that
he didn't do it - and even swears that if he did, he hopes he wakes up the
next day not great looking. That convinces Zoey and Chase he is telling the
truth.

Quinn is looking for Mark - and irritated with some students who haven't seen
a mummy! Michael is still running from Andre and Monique.

At the haunted house, the lights go out, but Chase has a lantern.  Logan
couldn't have turned them off, he was beside Chase. Zoey has had enough, a
student is missing, and she is going to go get Dean Rivers. But - the door is
locked and they are trapped! Jack appears on a TV screen saying "help me
help me" and then he screams in terror!

Michael has made it to a lounge and gets a drink from a "Blix" machine - but
Andre and Monique are close behind and he has to dive behind a couch. Andre
tries a "Blix" and likes it - but Monique hits it away saying in French that
they need to find the sick boy.

At the Haunted House, Dustin tells what happened in the tunnel of doom - the
echoing voice saying "Jack" and the strobe lights. Suddenly the echoing voice
is back - this time saying "Dustin Dustin Dustin" - the lights strobe, and now
Dustin is gone!

Back at the lounge - Andre and Monique find Michael and again try to get him
to go with them to the hospital. But they soon leave in terror - there is a
monster! It is Mark in his mummy costume, and a grateful Michael hugs him.
Nicole comes in and calls him Tim, and Michael leaves - to go throw his French
book in the garbage! Nicole still wants that kiss - but can't get the mummy
tape off. Quinn arrives and sees Nicole trying to get the tape off, and tells
her she needs a special solvent. She sprays the tape and it comes off
revealing Mark. Nicole is shocked to find she was chasing Mark.  Mark tells
Quinn that Nicole was chasing him all day wanting a kiss, and Quinn is MAD
"you are dead meat, woman, come here and face my wrath!" Nicole runs

screaming as Quinn chases her. After everybody leaves, Mark says he hates
Halloween.

Back at the haunted house, everybody is just as frantic as before,  when the
echoing voice comes back and says "Logan Logan Logan" - which totally freaks
Logan out! He manages to crash through the locked door and runs for his life,
with Chase telling him he only has five seconds!!!

After Logan is gone, everybody cheers. Chase gets out a remote control and
turns the lights back on. Jack and Dustin were hiding in a coffin.  It was
all an elaborate set-up to get back at Logan! They party it up

--- ANALYSIS

I found myself wishing this one would go on - it was so much fun!

Lola (Victoria Justice) does not appear in this episode.

Quinn as Albert Einstein was a howl!

Nicole is now talking a bit like Quinn does about Mark "I have to make him
marry me" (talking about Tim). She also reminded me of somebody in her facial
expressions, particularly at the hill - and now I know who it is: Kay
Panabaker as Debbie Berwick. Same sort of expressions.

Tim doesn't appear again after Quinn makes him leave to change.

It isn't clear why Michael doesn't just take off his costume to discourage
Andre and Monique.

Jamie makes almost as good a Marilyn Monroe as Lindsey Lohan did in
"Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" - although Jamie does not quite fill
the costume (yet).

The "Holland Science Center" does not exist at Pepperdine University (same as
other place names in the show such as Brenner Hall). There are corresponding
buildings such as the Keck Science Center on the Pepperdine campus, but it
isn't clear if the function of the building where filming is done corresponds
with the function in real life.

THE INEVITABLE LIZZIE MCGUIRE (and other) COMPARISONS

Special Halloween episodes are a mainstay on television. Naturally this means
there are several comparisons possible.

In both Lizzie McGuire and Zoey - the cast prepared an elaborate practical
joke on the villain of the show - Logan in Zoey and Kate in Lizzie:

-- both shows had two male characters disappear: Jack and Dustin in Zoey, and
Matt and Gordo in Lizzie.

-- both shows had a male character talk "from the beyond" and ask for help:
Jack on the video screen in Zoey and Gordo through the "Burger Buddy" in
Lizzie.

-- both shows had the villain running away in terror at the prospect of being
"next" - Logan running from a voice in Zoey, and Kate runnning from a "zombie
Lizzie." Louis cast himself runnning in terror from zombie students on Even
Stevens, Phil and Keeley from a zombie robot version of Debbie on Phil of the
Future - the examples abound.
