But she has trouble with a red one and bites the tip. When she squeezes it
again, it suddenly squirts across the room - putting red goo all over a
backpack. The storekeeper is willing to try to get the red goo off - but it
has already stained. Nicole has to buy the backpack, and it takes all of her
and Zoey's money. Nicole still wants Zoey to try a goo pop – a green one this
time. But - the goo ends up all over Zoey!

Quinn is by a peculiar plant. Chase and Michael stop by to say hello. She
explains that she crossed the DNA of her two favorite fruits – the apple and
banana - to create a hybrid b'napple tree. Michael laughs, but Chase is more
open minded.

Dana and another girl are trying to get an 80's vintage stereo to work in the
girls' lounge. It either gets static or brief reception of incredibly lame
stations. Zoey and Nicole are trying to get the stain out of the backpack -
to no avail. Dana asks Chase to try to fix the stereo, but he doesn't have
any better luck. It is pre-historic! Chase asks the girls to a movie, but
they can't go. They don't have any money. Nicole throws the backpack in the
garbage and leaves. Zoey, though, takes it back out after Nicole leaves.

Nicole is shooting popcorn seeds at balloons on the wall. Zoey enters - and
remarks that is not very entertaining. But it is all Nicole could afford.
Zoey shows her the backpack - at first Nicole doesn't realize it was the same
one she threw away, because Zoey has decorated it beautifully.  Quinn enters
the room to proudly announce her b'napples are now pink! She leaves for a
second, then returns and says "cool backpack."

Chase, Zoey, Nicole, and Dana are between classes the next day discussing
geometry. Vicki sees the backpack and likes it - she asks if Zoey will do
hers. Zoey agrees, and then Chase wants her to do his as well. She agrees
and will call them when they are done.

Zoey is just finishing up working on the backpacks. The rest of the girls all
want one, too. Nicole tells Zoey she should sell them. A girl named Stacy
overhears - and she wants to take pictures of them. She says it is for the
school paper.

Quinn is by her tree, the fruit is almost ripe. Color, texture, and smell are
right. Then - she sees some fruit on the ground. The birds have been at it.
Upset - Quinn yells at the birds that "this isn't finished. You hear me
demons!"

Zoey and Nicole are between classes - broke - with nothng to do.  They start
seeing other kids with decorated backpacks. More and more of them!  They
finally see where the backpacks are coming from - Stacy has a stand and is
selling them. Michael and Chase join them, Nicole tells them Stacy stole
Zoey's idea. They go to confront her, but Stacy acts innocent (and

arrogant). Stacy closes the stand so she doesn't have to talk to them.

Later at lunch, Nicole suggests that Zoey sue Stacy - her uncle is a lawyer
who just got out of jail! Zoey doesn't want to do it - 13 year olds don't sue
people. She asks Michael for his opinion, but Michael is oblivious. He is
listening to his iPod. He has 30,000 songs to hear - the only problem is that
the ear buds hurt. Chase brings them a copy of the school paper.  It has an
article about Stacy's backpacks. If that isn't depressing enough, the PCA
bookstore is going to make a deal with Stacy to sell them. Chase sits down -
his heavy backpack is weighing him down, his shoulders are sore.  Zoey is
starting to have another idea - and finds out that Stacy's meeting with the
bookstore owner is Friday.

Quinn has a silver mannequin standing by her b'napple tree.  Michael asks her
how it works, and she asks him for his hat. She throws it at the tree, and
laser beams come out of the eyes of her scarecrow, burning holes in the hat.
She hands it back to Michael - who vows not to ask her things again!
On Friday, Stacy is holding her meeting with the PCA bookstore manager. A lot
of girls want to buy Stacy's samples. Michael is undercover with a walkie
talkie - and tells the others that the deal is going down. Nicole enters and
calls everybody outside.

Zoey has a backpack stand right outside the PCA bookstore, and a lot of people
are buying her backpacks. One girl even throws away her Stacy backpack. The
PCA bookstore manager asks Zoey what is going on - and Zoey has Michael and
Chase demonstrate her backpack's features. They have a radio with an iPod input and speakers in the strap so you don't have to use the ear buds.
They also have a massager built into the strap for sore shoulders.  Stacy
keeps protesting to the store owner that they need to finish their deal, but
the manager tries on one of Zoey's backpacks and is sold. He will make a deal
with Zoey - not Stacy!

Later in the girls' lounge, Zoey is talking with everybody about the deal she
made to sell her backpacks. Instead of taking money, she got a jukebox for
the lounge! Michael comes in and tells them Quinn is all upset.

Zoey and Chase go to find out why - and she tells them her b'napples bite.
Not only do they not taste good - they are dangerous. Their juice is a strong
acid. She pours some on a bicycle seat to demonstrate, and it partially
dissolves it. After they leave, Stacy comes up - the bike is HERS!

In the courtyard, everybody is telling Zoey how much they love her
backpacks. Stacy rides by going ouch - her seat is not very comfortable!

NOTES:

Nothing much to alter major story arcs. We do learn the Nicole has
an uncle who is a crooked lawyer. No doubt she is unaware that he would
probably be disbarred after his conviction.

A cute "Nicoleism" is presented here - she tends to personify food a
bit.  Raisins being little wrinkled old people. In Season 2 - olives
having tongues.

A rough spot about the b'napple tree - the acid fruit would have
killed the birds that ate it.

A rough spot about Zoey backpacks: While Chinese vendors do sell
radio boards that could be installed in a backpack, it usually takes months to
arrange a deal, and the volumes have to be very great. I saw backpacks and
purses with radios at the "Dry Ice" store - no doubt Nickelodeon should have
patented the idea. The same comments also apply to massaging mechanisms. My
question to the "Dry Ice" store manager - about whether the backpacks also had
massagers - was answered no, but I was not the only person to ask! The cost of
a real Zoey backpack - with both features - would probably be prohibitive.
But it is technically possible.
