He looks around as he
gets to the science building, and spots Zoey
and Nicole.
But - he doesn't see the stairs and falls
off his bike as he rolls
down them.
He is OK, and he and the girls joke about it. They
are in a new
dorm as well,
Brenner Hall. Dana is studying in France
this year, and the girls
(think they
will) have the room to themselves. Dustin shows up
carrying a wardrobe
box bigger
than he is. Zoey explains that Dustin is going
through a macho-phase. Chase
makes a date with Zoey and Nicole to meet at Sushi Rox
later.
Zoey and Nicole arrive at their new,
spacious room. Nicole loves
that they
can see the basketball courts - because sometimes
the guys don't
wear shirts. Quinn
appears on a wall mounted TV screen! It also has a camera, so
they can
talk to each other all the time. It turns
out, though, that she is
right next door to them! And only Quinn can turn off
the link.
Coco is still their dorm advisor - and tells
them that their new
roommate will
be assigned later. Nicole especially
doesn't like the news, because
she had a
bad experience with Dana last year. Zoey has an
idea - what if they
talk to
the housing administration office?
Zoey and Nicole show up at the housing
administration office, and
the moment
they see Miss Burvich, they know they are in
trouble! She is mean
and sullen
- and informs them that she makes all assignments
and students have
no input. Zoey
and Nicole try a different approach. Noticing her collection
of rare
antique perfume bottles hanging on the wall,
they get her to talk
about them.
Back at the boys dorm room, Logan is being
his usual lazy self and
lets
Michael and Chase do all the work hooking up the
entertainment
system.
Meanwhile back at the housing administration
office - Miss Burvich
begins to
warm up to the girls after talking about the
perfume bottles, and is
willing
to make an exception to the rules for them. Nicole
is so excited,
she throws
up her arms, and knocks the perfume bottle display
onto the floor, where
several of them shatter! So much for picking their
roommate!
Later - Dustin is playing video games in
Logan, Michael, and Chase's
room. The
room is full of kids listening to loud music. Michael and Chase
ask Logan
to turn it down, but he refuses.
Zoey and Nicole return to their dorm room to
find the lights dim,
and a
strange girl with white spiky hair meditating in the
middle of a
circle of
candles. She has several piercings. She informs
them that her name
is Lola,
she is their new roommate, and she is trying to
talk to the dead.
She has
already hung some of her strange artwork on the
walls. Lola takes
out some
raw eggs, breaks them into a glass, and drinks
them! The girls ask
about her
past, and she says she came from a school in
upstate New York, but
she isn't
legally allowed to talk about her transfer. She
says that her former
teacher
"fell" down the stairs. Zoey and Nicole are
totally freaked out, and
more than
a little bit frightened by Lola.
Zoey, Nicole, Quinn, Chase and Michael are
outdoors discussing their
dorm room
problems. Quinn says that raw eggs are OK as a
snack – provided
they are free
of salmonella. (TRIVIA: Victoria did not
actually drink raw eggs.
The egg
yolks were computer generated.) Logan played his
stereo until 3AM, and
Michael is really cranky from lack of sleep. Zoey is
already fed up
with
Lola, and is determined to tell her not to be so weird.
That night, when Zoey and Nicole return to
the room, they find Lola
with a
tongue piercing kit, about to pierce her tongue! Lola
asks them to
help -
Zoey is furious and asks her to do it somewhere else,
but Lola
informs them it
is her room, too, and she will do whatever
she wants in it! Zoey
and Nicole leave.
In the boys' dorm room, Michael and Chase
are trying to study state
capitals,
but the music is so loud they can't hear each
other. Michael tries
to take
the remote, but Logan gets it back and won't turn
it down.
Michael and Chase leave, and set up separate
tents outdoors. But it
isn't
long before Michael calls Chase - there is a large bug
in his tent,
and he is
terrified of it! Michael hears a disturbance
outside, and gets
ready to hit
the prowler with a large flashlight. But -
it is Zoey and Nicole,
who are so
startled they scream, Michael screams, then Chase
comes out and
screams.
(TRIVIA - during filming, Jamie was so startled
that she jumped
onto
Alexa!) The girls have been looking for the boys for
half an
hour, and since the boys have two tents – the girls ask
to borrow one. Michael
gives them
his - but after a few seconds, the huge bug scares
the
girls out. Zoey
has had enough - it's their room, too, so she begins to march back
and grabs
Nicole to come with her.
Lola is on the phone. A white wig and fake
body piercings are on
the table.
She is talking to someone about how easy it was to
fool Zoey and
Nicole into
believing she was a total freak. She doesn't
notice that Zoey and
Nicole have
been overhearing the conversation. When she does
notice, she
quickly tries to
stuff her long, dark hair under the white
wig, but her smile betrays
the
truth. She is an actress, and was trying out her craft
on Zoey and
Nicole -
she explains that it was a golden opportunity,
being in a new school
where
nobody knew her. Zoey and Nicole are still a little
bit angry, but
a lot more
relieved.
Chase and Michael have also had enough.
They come back to their
room, and
pretend not to be mad at Logan. They just want to
hang out – and
Chase picks
up the remote control and begins to crank the music
even louder -
and louder -
and louder - until the circuit breakers in
the entire dorm cut off! Michael
and Chase had planned that all along, and say
goodnight to each
other. Logan
is mad, of course.
Lola wants to take Zoey and Nicole to
breakfast the next morning.
But – Zoey
sees Nicole wearing one of her tops, and the two
girls start
fighting over it
- knocking each other to the floor! Lola
doesn't know what to do, but
it was a
fake-out - payback for what Lola did. Lola is not
happy about it
initially, but they all go to breakfast. Quinn joins
them, and then so do
Chase,
Logan, and Michael - in a side-by-side group showing
the whole cast.
Closing line: Logan: "You guys are the
WORST" (after they have
popped the
circuit breaker).
ANALYSIS:
This episode had to deal with the departure
of Kristin Herrera's
character
Dana from the show, and the arrival of Victoria
Justice's character
Lola. Any
cast change in a successful show is risky, and
certainly takes
almost a whole
episode to accomplish. Dana's departure is
attributed to a foreign
exchange program, leaving room for her possibly to
return.
The two-way video system that Quinn installs
is a loose plot thread –
usually
Quinn's inventions play a major part in the story
line.
One major plot issue is - what would the
other residents of Logan's
dorm think
about his loud stereo? There would certainly be
complaints – and
where is the
dorm advisor to enforce
restrictions on volume?
